Once widely used, the number of operational lighthouses has substantially declined and keeps declining even further due to the expense of maintenance and use of electronic navigational systems. This collection, in its own way, was meant to preserve beautiful imagery of such noble and somewhat mysterious structures. Here you will find pieces featuring ‘Lighthouse #4’
A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type of structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses, and to serve as a navigational aid for maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways.
Lighthouses mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shoals, reefs, and safe entries to harbors and can assist in aerial navigation. Before the development of clearly defined ports, mariners were guided by fires built on hilltops. Since raising the fire would improve the visibility...
Most of what you see here should be classified as new media paintings. By default, those are digitally signed and dated Open Edition (OE) giclee prints. I also offer Limited Editions of twenty one (21), which are listed here as the 'originals' (Please, contact me directly for details). Each limited edition print comes with certificate of authenticity. It is individually signed, numbered, and personally enhanced by the artist to assure its uniqueness.
